The group of young Belgians and Spaniards are aware of the disconnection they experience towards the European feeling. Some of them, thanks to their studies and academic training, are beginning to “wake up” to the reality of belonging to a community project, which affects them much more than they are aware of, in their social, democratic, cultural life, etc. The young people from both countries have not had many opportunities to interact with other young Europeans. For most of them, it will be the first time they have participated in a European project. Having this opportunity to do so is an enrichment that encourages mutual understanding and respect between cultures. They want to strengthen the sense of European identity, promote intercultural dialogue and encourage learning about community institutions. In a context where the feeling of belonging to the EU and the active participation of young people in democratic processes are essential for the future of Europe, the “RAW Youth” project, conceived and designed by the group of participating young people, seeks to provide them with an enriching experience that allows them to better understand cultural diversity and the functioning of the EU. The specific objectives of the “RAW Youth” project are: • To foster a sense of European citizenship • To promote learning about the EU • To encourage intercultural dialogue • To encourage participation in European construction • To offer a space for reflection and debate • To strengthen personal and social skills “RAW Youth” is a non-formal learning opportunity for the group of participating young people, Belgians and Spanish, to connect with the European project and be a crucial asset for the future development of the European Union.
