Objectives

The Zero Waste Challenge is designed to empower young people by equipping them with sustainable practices and deep understanding of the principles of the circular economy. The project aims to address environmental issues such as waste accumulation and overconsumption by encouraging participants to rethink how they perceive and manage waste. With educational and practical activities, participants will be inspired to adopt sustainable lifestyles and lead initiatives that promote efficient resource use within their communities. One of the key objectives is to educate youth on the Zero Waste philosophy, focusing on waste reduction, recycling, and the importance of reusing materials to minimize environmental impact. Participants will explore the concept of the circular economy, which prioritizes keeping resources in use for as long as possible, and learn how to apply these principles in real life. To achieve this the project combines theoretical learning with workshops, where participants will practice upcycling, recycling and waste management strategies. The project also emphasizes the importance of collaborative learning and intercultural exchange. By bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds, creating an environment where participants can share perspectives and create innovative solutions to sustainability challenges. This intercultural collaboration is through group activities and community projects designed to strengthen bonds among participants while addressing shared environmental concerns. In addition, the project seeks to inspire the creation of local sustainability initiatives, encouraging participants to develop and implement circular economy projects within their communities. Through a combination of interactive workshops, field visits, and activities, the project ensures that young people not only understand the theoretical aspects of sustainability but also learn the practical skills needed to integrate these concepts into their everyday lives. By empowering youth with knowledge, leadership skills and promoting collaboration, the Zero Waste Challenge aims to apply long-term behavior change, inspire community action and contribute to a more sustainable future.
