Objectives

The Youth Exchange 'Storytelling: Embracing Diversity, Encouraging Unity' is an innovative initiative designed to equip young people with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly multicultural world. This program aims to foster intercultural competencies—essential for effective communication and collaboration across diverse cultural landscapes—and actively challenges barriers such as stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination, reducing discriminatory attitudes among participants by at least 30%. At the heart of this program is the innovative use of storytelling, a dynamic and empathetic medium. More than just narrating tales, storytelling serves as a tool for exploring diverse cultures, confronting social biases, and fostering self-awareness. Through this art form, participants will develop cultural awareness, sensitivity, and communication skills tailored to multicultural environments. Approximately 90% of participants will gain storytelling skills to combat stereotypes, promote understanding, and enhance empathy. The program’s objectives are multifaceted. It seeks to provide 36 young people, aged 18–25, with tools to interact effectively with individuals from various cultural backgrounds, including minorities, refugees, and asylum seekers. The program also introduces storytelling as a means of personal and professional development, enhancing digital communication skills, empathy, and self-awareness. Moreover, it aspires to increase understanding of the Erasmus+ Program, with 80% of participants expressing interest in further opportunities. This project is both about learning and about creating and sharing. Participants will produce engaging outputs such as blogs, video interviews, activity handbooks, and podcasts to raise awareness about storytelling's potential to improve intercultural competencies. These resources, shared through social media, aim to reach 5000 additional young people and inspire at least 3 partner organizations to integrate them into their youth programs. After the Youth Exchange, we seek to strengthen partnerships and foster the development of at least 3 new project ideas within the Erasmus+ Programme. By using non-formal educational activities—such as storytelling exercises, discussions, simulations, and reflective sessions—the program is building a future where everyone feels welcome, understood, and connected. This initiative is a step towards a world united by diversity and mutual understanding.
