Despite advances in Europe in recent years, mental health remains a concern for youth. Depression and anxiety are among the leading causes of illness and disability in adolescents, and a considerable number of deaths among 15-19 year olds are due to suicide (4116 in Spain alone; 2023). Although half of the mental disorders in adulthood have already started by the age of 18, most of them are neither detected nor treated. Among the many factors that impact the well-being and mental health of young people, social circumstances such as poverty, abuse and violence, specifically sexual violence, increase vulnerability to mental health problems. The reality is that this issue is emerging, and a priority. For example in the youth goals, #5 called mental health and wellbeing expressly addresses what we want to work on in this exchange; fostering a collaborative awareness and mindset, promoting an inclusive and intersectional approach to mental health care, offering mental health support, especially preventing problems by promoting skills and mental wellbeing in young people, as well as personal growth and above all raising awareness among youth on the topic. We also want to promote other youth goals, which are going to be relevant in the whole project such as #1 connecting the EU with youth, #2 equality of all genders, #3 inclusive societies and #10 a sustainable green europe. The goal is to become young people who get involved and participate by being advocates ourselves by giving our opinion on issues that concern us as young Europeans, and to get them to the right political leaders so that we can be part of the change. Through the series of podcasts that we are going to make as an activity of the meeting, we will address issues that concern us in terms of mental health, gender equality, climate change etc. becoming the voice of the youth, at least from Albania, Armenia, Spain, Latvia and Romania, as this is where the participants of TreEquality come from. Our main objective to achieve through the "TreEquality" exchange is the prevention and promotion of mental health in the young participants, with a clear gender and sustainability perspective that runs through the whole project. Thus, we want to achieve the following objectives: - Raise awareness and sensitize young people on the importance of caring for and promoting emotional well-being and mental health. - Develop practices to know how to manage stress and anxiety in a healthy way. - To empower young people to take charge of their mental health care and to take responsibility for their own community care. - Promote critical awareness of sexual, gender and environmental violence, which accompanies structural mental and emotional health problems in society. - Reflect on existing digital tools and explore emerging ones to identify different types of violence and promote well-being and equality. - Share good practices in prevention and promotion of mental health, equality and sustainability. - Encourage a cross-cultural debate in favor of equality and inclusion and mental health. - To foster active citizenship and EU values among the younger generations. - Promote the Erasmus Plus program and its opportunities among youth.
