Objectives

“Rural Crops: From Local Action to Global Repercussion” is a youth exchange that was created as a contribution to promote greater awareness of the natural world among young people, promote more sustainable and healthy lifestyles both physically and emotionally, make visible and revalue the rural world to combat depopulation and provide solutions to alleviate the current global climate, social and ecological crises. During this exchange 16 participants and 3 TL from Spain, France and Portugal will live together for 10 days in a small village in the heart of O Ribeiro (Galicia). Topics such as the importance of biodiversity, the functioning of natural cycles, the current situation of global systemic crises and potential regenerative responses to individual and collective level, outdoor activities, regeneration practices in situ and introduction of tools such as permaculture or group's facilitation will be addressed. All this through the creation of safe spaces for co-learning, using methodologies and dynamics of non-formal education that promote the culture of peace and sustainability in all its aspects. Transversally during the coexistence we will deepen in improving teamwork skills, cooperate, gain non-violent communication skills, empathic listening, collective decision making, consensus and conflict management. This exchange is designed to include the local community of the area in certain activities as a way to bring the participants closer to the rural reality, magnify intercultural and intergenerational exchange, promote tolerance and the inclusion of diversity. From the perspective of youth work, the objectives of this project are: - Expand knowledge about the importance of the natural environment, its functioning, protection and integration into our lives through nature-based solutions. - To promote consensus, intercultural dialogue and active participation within a Culture of Peace framework. - To create a space for co-learning and coexistence that is diverse, inclusive, gender-sensitive and intergenerational. - Promote more sustainable and healthy lifestyles that embrace diversity and promote inclusion. - To offer tools to participants so that they become active agents of change and can contribute regenerative solutions in their communities of origin to mitigate global systemic crises. - Combat depopulation and promote rural life as a viable and sustainable alternative, as well as improve its conditions through regenerative interventions and the mobilization of human and economic resources. - To improve the competencies and skills of participants, partners and other involved parties at the level of cooperation and coordination. - To explore the ethics and principles of Permaculture. - To foster the alliance between Atlantic/Mediterranean neighbouring countries of Europe (Spain, France & Portugal), to mitigate stereotypes and to promote a more cohesive Europe. - To reinforce links between the partner organizations of the project, as well as with local institutions and other entities involved in order to give continuity to future joint regeneration projects.
