The project aims to address the needs and demands of the youth and the community of Tubilla del Lago, a rural village in the province of Burgos. These needs emerged during local meetings and online gatherings and relate to issues that many rural areas in Europe also face, such as population aging and the demographic exodus of young people who tend to move to cities in search of better living conditions (educational, labor, and cultural opportunities). The thematic focus of the project will center on a key resource for everyone's daily life, as well as for the birth and development of the village: water. Tubilla is indeed rich in water springs that nourish its natural ecosystem, satisfying much of the water consumption of the neighboring city of Aranda. Another resource that Tubilla del Lago has is the artistic capability of its inhabitants, who over the years have created a Route of Murals that will traverse the entire municipality. Therefore, the project's intention is to value the rural environment through the rediscovery of its resources, among which the youth are perhaps the most valuable component. Each session of the activity program is designed to contribute to the achievement of the 4 specific objectives of the project, namely: - Strengthen the ties of young people with their rural communities by offering them experiences that help them feel like active citizens in it; - Promote active participation in the sustainable development process of rural areas by raising awareness among young people about the essential role of water as a vital resource. Young people will be involved in activities related to water management and protection, which is especially significant for Tubilla del Lago due to the numerous springs and streams, as well as the Lagunas de Valcabadillo (much of the water used by neighboring Aranda comes from this locality); - Stimulate the curiosity of young people about other cultures, broadening their perspectives and developing intercultural understanding through group activities and European collaborations; - Stimulate the opportunities offered by Erasmus+ by familiarizing young people with the possibilities that the program offers both locally and internationally, aiming to promote the exchange of experiences and their personal and professional development.
