The Erasmus+ Yellow Planet project’s main objective is to empower young people and provide them with the necessary tools to become active agents of change in the fight against climate change and the promotion of sustainable development. At its core, the project aims not only to provide technical knowledge about renewable energy and carbon footprints but also to encourage participants to reflect deeply on their role in preserving the planet and how their daily decisions can contribute to a greener, more equitable future. From the perspective of youth work, the project aims to raise awareness among young people about the effects of climate change and how they can engage in addressing it. Therefore, the goal is for participants to not only gain theoretical knowledge but also confront practical situations through activities such as workshops, visits to wind farms, and debates on environmental policies. By addressing these issues in an international and diverse environment, young people will better understand the global interconnectedness of the problem, fostering a sense of collective responsibility. One of the most important aspects of this project is promoting active participation and commitment from young people in creating solutions. Through dynamics such as role-playing, climate simulations, and hackathons, the project aims for young people to develop their ability to work as a team, lead initiatives, and make decisions based on cooperation and dialogue. These activities not only allow young people to educate themselves on the topics discussed but also help them develop essential life skills, such as problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership. In addition to the educational aspect, the project fosters cultural exchange. By working with young people from different countries, participants have the opportunity to share their experiences, traditions, and perspectives on the environment and sustainability. This exchange not only enriches the young people on a personal level but also promotes mutual understanding and tolerance. Intercultural nights and moments of shared experiences become a unique opportunity to build bridges between cultures, creating a space of respect and learning where each young person feels valued for their cultural identity while discovering that of others. Empowerment is another key objective of the project. In an increasingly interconnected world, young people need to feel capable of influencing their environment and leading change in their communities. Through activities that stimulate creativity and critical thinking, such as designing sustainable projects or analyzing public policies at the Extremadura Assembly, the project provides them with the tools to design innovative solutions they can implement once they return home. At the same time, the use of the Youth Pass at the end of the exchange allows participants to reflect on their learning and the skills acquired during the project, helping them strengthen their confidence and feel that they can truly make a difference. Finally, the Erasmus+ Yellow Planet project not only focuses on environmental education but also on social inclusion. Particular emphasis has been placed on the participation of young people in vulnerable situations, ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to get involved and develop their skills. This not only guarantees diversity and richness of perspectives within the group but also promotes gender equality and inclusion, fundamental values within youth work. In summary, the Erasmus+ Yellow Planet project aims to inspire and empower young people to become leaders committed to sustainable development. By offering them a platform to learn, collaborate, and create, the project fosters not only environmental education but also personal growth, cultural exchange, and the strengthening of youth resilience. In a world facing increasingly significant environmental challenges, these young people become key agents of change, carrying with them the knowledge and tools to transform their communities and contribute to a fairer and more sustainable future for all.
