The ReFab ReWear project aims to raise awareness among young people about the environmental impact of the textile industry and promote the concept of upcycling as a sustainable alternative within the fashion sector. Through this youth exchange, we seek to provide participants with practical tools and knowledge that will enable them to reduce their ecological footprint, foster responsible consumption, and explore their creativity in textile transformation. At the same time, the project will promote intercultural collaboration, non-formal education, and the acquisition of key 21st-century skills, aligning with the priorities of the Erasmus+ program in terms of sustainability, inclusion, and youth development. The project’s main goal is to create an experiential learning space where young people can better understand the impact of their consumption habits and explore innovative solutions through sustainable fashion. We want participants not only to experiment with different textile recycling techniques and garment customization but also to reflect on their role as responsible consumers and European citizens. Furthermore, the project will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices among participants and local communities, promoting mutual learning based on experimentation and teamwork. From a youth work practice perspective, this project aims to strengthen young people's autonomy and empowerment through non-formal education and applied creativity. Using participatory methodologies and learning-by-doing dynamics, participants will develop transversal skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, and social entrepreneurship. The program structure has been designed to encourage a progressive learning process, allowing young people to explore their interests, enhance their skills, and simultaneously develop a deeper environmental awareness. Additionally, special emphasis will be placed on gender equality and diversity, ensuring that all participants have equal opportunities to actively engage in the process. At the end of the project, we expect participants to become agents of change within their communities, replicating the knowledge acquired and promoting local initiatives related to sustainable fashion. The project will also encourage the creation of collaborative networks among participating organizations, aiming to generate future opportunities within the Erasmus+ framework.
