With the implementation of this project, we aim to train educators to connect with art and history museums, as well as cultural institutions, through practical and engaging approaches based on learning by doing. These approaches incorporate a constructivist and critical pedagogy that acknowledges young people’s prior experiences and knowledge, channeling them towards learning and enjoying art. Additionally, we seek to help young people discover their local heritage, as this not only strengthens their local and European identity but also fosters an understanding of other cultures and empathy toward people from different backgrounds. Through art and history, young people can develop a sense of belonging both to their community and to a shared European identity, promoting respect and intercultural understanding. In this project, we teach non-formal education methods that will enable youth workers to develop high-quality activities in museums and cultural centers in their local areas. These methodologies encourage active participation, creativity, and critical thinking, ensuring that visits to these spaces become enriching and accessible educational experiences for young people. Our goal is to equip educators and youth workers with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration needed to design impactful visits to art museums and exhibitions, making them more accessible and expanding educational opportunities for young people in cities and towns across Europe. Objectives: To train and equip educators and youth workers with the necessary skills to offer relevant and inspiring visits and experiences in museums and exhibitions. To share experiences, methodologies, and best practices to engage young audiences as active members of the museum community in different cities and countries. To share a proven museum education methodology designed for young people and successfully applied to over 70 participants in the past four years. To promote museum education as a comprehensive field of knowledge, highlighting its role as a powerful tool for intercultural mediation, personal development, social and communication skills, teamwork, and leadership. To train educators and youth workers in the use and application of comprehensive museum education resources for both formal and informal contexts. To promote intercultural exchange so that participants can learn from each other and enrich their understanding of how museums can be used as educational tools in different contexts.
