The main objective of the “Stronger Minds, Stronger Communities” project is to address the growing problem of mental health among young people by promoting an approach that combines emotional and physical well-being. To this end, cognitive therapy techniques will be implemented, key tools for identifying and modifying negative thoughts, improving emotional management and fostering resilience. These methodologies not only help prevent more serious problems, but also empower young people with practical skills to cope with the challenges of everyday life. This approach is particularly crucial in regions such as Castilla y León, where mental health data are alarming. According to the Report of the Observatory of Mental Health in Spain, Castilla y León has one of the highest suicide rates in the country, with 8.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, exceeding the national average. In addition, the region has experienced a significant increase in cases of anxiety and depression among young people, accentuated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has increased problems such as stress, social isolation and economic uncertainty. The project seeks not only to raise awareness among young people about the importance of emotional well-being, but also to provide them with practical tools to identify and manage early signs of anxiety, depression and stress. In addition, the positive influence of physical activity and contact with nature will be highlighted, promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle as fundamental pillars for improving mental health. Complementing this approach, we will work on the development of social skills, stress management and creativity as tools for the resolution of emotional problems. International cooperation and European values will also be fostered, promoting a sense of belonging and solidarity in an inclusive environment. This effort seeks not only to benefit participants directly, but also to generate a lasting impact on their communities, creating a support network that inspires other young people to prioritize their emotional and physical well-being.
