Objectives

The project aims to train youth workers to develop critical thinking, media literacy, and fact-checking skills, enabling them to support young people in interpreting and analyzing information critically. Through a structured learning process, youth workers will gain the ability to re-evaluate news and narratives at personal, local, and international levels, fostering awareness, engagement, and resilience against misinformation. The impact will extend beyond the training participants, as they will transfer these skills to the young people they work with, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: -The project will train a group of 15 youth workers across five European countries to develop essential research skills, critical analysis, and methods for disseminating reliable information. This skillset is a fundamental element in encouraging youth workers to actively participate in community life and support young people from disadvantaged social backgrounds and those who face discrimination. During the training, these youth workers will interact directly with young people who have fewer opportunities, gaining valuable insights into their needs. -The project aims to raise awareness among young people, particularly those who live in or are connected to individuals from socially or culturally disadvantaged situations, regarding the importance of fact-based information. An informative video will be produced to promote practices of disseminating reliable information within their communities. -The project will facilitate the exchange of best practices between the five partner associations, which operate locally to engage young people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. This will foster cross-cultural learning and collaboration, supporting the development of effective strategies to address the issue of misinformation. -The project will establish systems for dialogue between young people and local authorities, aimed at promoting social inclusion and youth empowerment. Each partner will organize workshops in their local communities during the follow-up phase to inspire young people and promote the creation of events and initiatives that address social inclusion. -The 15 participating youth workers will create and disseminate a portfolio containing: a) Guidelines for using fact-based information channels, such as podcasts, web radios, newspapers, and trusted web pages. b) A list of verified sources, authors, and newspapers, whose credibility has been vetted by the project partners. This portfolio will serve as a practical tool for both youth workers and young people to navigate reliable sources of information.
