Objectives

Wild Womb: Menstrual Education, Health & Sovereignty is a project designed for menstruating people, involved in youth work and interested in acquiring knowledge about the menstrual cycle, strengthening the link with their bodies and their cyclical nature and promoting the physical and psycho-emotional health of young people through somatic, artistic and other experiential learning methods, participatory and non-formal education. This project includes gender diversity, we decided to use the feminine article because we refer to “menstruating people”. Participants will explore the physiological, social and political aspects associated with the menstrual cycle and gain resources for conscious, respectful and critical menstrual education. In addition, they will participate in intercultural dialogues aimed at generating responses to combat taboo, discrimination and menstrual poverty and to promote the use of sustainable menstrual management products. This training aims to empower menstruating people and co-generate responses to combat precariousness and discrimination, in partnership with their communities and caring for planet earth. The participating organizations have identified the following needs: 1.Generate training programs that address the physiological, salutogenic, psychological and emotional characteristics of the menstrual cycle. 2.Implement psycho-emotional support training programs, including somatic and artistic resources, to accompany young menstruating young people. 3.Obtain tools for personal self-knowledge and cyclical sovereignty. 4.To generate spaces for debate and reflection that give visibility to structural inequalities and analyze their impact on gender inequality and menstrual poverty. 5.To promote intercultural debate and European dialogue around menstrual rights and social justice. 6.To denounce discriminatory discourses and dissolve taboos generated around the menstrual cycle in order to generate conscious and respectful menstrual narratives. 7.Promote conscious societies, with access to comprehensive menstrual education, to strengthen social cohesion and inclusion. 8.Encourage the use of body-friendly and environmentally friendly menstrual management products that help to reduce environmental impact. 9.Create educational resources and support materials that address issues related to menstrual health, psycho-emotional well-being and cyclical sovereignty, to integrate into work with youth and their communities. Objectives that respond to these needs: 1.Facilitate theoretical resources on anatomy and physiology of the menstrual cycle so that youth workers can accompany menstruating people to reflect on their bodies and their cyclical processes and thus strengthen their sovereignty, self-management and decision-making capacity. 2. To train youth workers with expressive arts and somatic tools that reinforce the psycho-emotional wellbeing of menstruating people. 3.To offer pedagogical tools so that youth workers can facilitate spaces for reflection and debate on the menstrual taboo, gender inequality, menstrual poverty and the environmental impacts generated by the use of unsustainable menstrual management products. 4.Generate spaces for debate that promote plural dialogue, cooperation and unity for menstrual rights. 5.Create and disseminate an open access resource manual (ToolKit) containing the knowledge, methods and tools facilitated and generated during the project. 6.Promote the objectives of the Erasmus+ Program in relation to the development of youth work, social cohesion and solidarity at local, national and European level. This training integrates a transdisciplinary approach (physiology, psychology, somatic, social sciences and expressive arts) and relies on a participatory methodological base, which allows to develop a holistic view and encourage the involvement of the participants. All the resources used will be collaboratively compiled to generate a Toolkit, aimed at youth workers, educators, youth associations, young leaders and interested people, which will be published in our networks and in relevant platforms for youth work. We hope to ensure sustainability and transfer of learning and to enrich the work of participating youth workers, their local and international networks and the wider EU youth work network.
