The Bridging Cultures project provides youth workers with the necessary competencies on intercultural understanding, inclusion, and social cohesion. By extension, it supports youth workers in their struggles to provide a non-discriminatory setting for young people due to misunderstanding and stereotyping of culture. Some of the objectives of this project from a youth work practice perspective are: • Deconstructing cultural stereotypes and misconceptions: Equipping youth workers with the means of creating an inclusive and respectful environment where intercultural exchange is encouraged and prejudices are broken. • Improvement of intercultural communication competencies: active listening, empathy, conflict resolution will be provided to the participants in order to effectively handle cultural differences. • Counteracting hate speech and misinformation: To strengthen the capacity of youth workers to deconstruct biased discourses and foster respectful, informed communication. • Inclusive social cohesion: Facilitate youth workers to create innovative approaches toward promoting diversity and integration within their communities. • Leadership development for intercultural dialogue: Prepare youth workers to lead intercultural discussions and encourage young people to appreciate cultural diversity. • Global responsibility promotion: Support youth workers to see themselves as active contributors toward change in intercultural collaboration and peacebuilding. With such a focus on professional development at its heart, Bridging Cultures secures continuity, which will ensure the long-term impact of transferring learning into real-life youth work participants and hence improve the quality of the programs to encourage inclusive youth engagement.
