It is curious to observe how a highly technological society like today's, with access to technological resources unimaginable a few years ago (internet, cell phones, mass media, etc.), seems to have forgotten one of the basic needs of human beings: their emotional dimension. The project aims to prepare youth educators to support and guide young people, and to prepare them for an active and responsible citizenship by strengthening their emotional competences. Talking about Emotional Education, well-being and mental health, is to take into account emotional awareness, emotion regulation, self-esteem, emotional autonomy (super necessary to discern for oneself without emotional dependencies in both social and professional links that young people face), empathy, revision of mental beliefs, identification of universal and personal needs for well-being, and much more. We believe that this part of wellness education is not being offered consistently in formal education centers, and that is why we think that it can be an interesting course for youth organizations more than non-formal education. When talking about emotional competences we refer to the set of knowledge, abilities, skills and attitudes necessary to understand, express and regulate emotional phenomena in an appropriate way. Social and emotional learning will be developed on the basis of two main categories: 1. Intrapersonal: addressing emotional awareness, emotional regulation and emotional autonomy. Interpersonal: addressing social competence and life skills and well-being. Thanks to this theoretical-practical and above all experiential experience, youth educators will be able, on the one hand, to increase their emotional competencies and gain personal strength, and on the other hand, they will be able to offer answers and help to the young people they work with. The main objectives to be developed are: 1. To identify and recognize emotions in oneself and in others, 2. To strengthen self-esteem and self-identity as an element that shapes a healthy personality. 3. Learning to communicate and express assertively. 4. To develop empathy towards others and contribute to the collective by attending to one's own needs and those of the situation. 5. Identify situations of socioemotional conflict and know how to regulate it. All this will be developed from a first online meeting, once the project is approved, with the activity of the face-to-face course in Piles (Gandía) and then with the day to day in the WhatsApp group and a follow up meeting one month later where participants will share the local impact, photographs and other useful testimonies for the rest. Everything will be shared on the website www.artfeeling.eu which will be available for a year after the course.
