The project "From the Table to History: An Inclusive Journey through European Culture" aims to promote inclusion and diversity within the framework of the Erasmus program, ensuring that all young people, regardless of their socio-economic background or physical abilities, can discover and connect with Europe's rich cultural heritage. Through accessible and enriching travel experiences, we seek to eliminate the barriers that hinder the exploration of the continent and foster a sense of shared European identity. Commitment of the Mediterranean Organization for Research and Development The Mediterranean Organization for Research and Development leads this project with a comprehensive approach based on three fundamental pillars: ✅ Research and Development: We design accessible itineraries and activities for all, adapting routes, incorporating assistive technologies, and training facilitators to ensure an inclusive travel experience. ✅ Education and Awareness: We organize workshops and seminars aimed at tourism service providers to raise awareness about the importance of inclusion and train them in adapting their services to the needs of all travelers. ✅ Connection and Community: We encourage networking among young travelers, where they can share experiences, tips, and resources, strengthening the Erasmus community and promoting a sense of European belonging. Through "From the Table to History", we not only seek to provide travel opportunities to those who would otherwise not have them but also to enrich the Erasmus experience through the discovery of European culture, history, and cuisine—key elements for mutual understanding and social cohesion. A Three-Stage Journey To ensure a structured and meaningful experience, the project itinerary is designed in three stages, with a group of 5 participants accompanied by 3 guides or facilitators. Preparation: Exploring Europe Before the Journey From the city of Burgos, participants will receive pre-trip training to familiarize themselves with the cultures, customs, and culinary traditions of the countries they will visit. Key tools provided include: Table manners and etiquette in different European countries. Useful phrases in local languages. Travel kits with maps, cultural guides, and emergency contacts. This stage ensures that young people start their journey with the basic knowledge needed to fully immerse themselves in the cultural and culinary experience of each destination. The Journey: A Meeting with History, Culture, and Cuisine Over 12 days, the group will travel from Burgos to various European destinations, exploring their cultural and gastronomic wealth: France: The first contact with French cuisine, where participants will discover the history behind bread and cheese, learn about the influence of gastronomy on national identity, and visit local markets. Belgium: Exploration of squares and Gothic architecture, combined with immersion in the tradition of Belgian chocolate and waffles, understanding how these elements reflect the country's identity. Netherlands: A tour of its famous canals and museums, with a focus on Dutch cheese culture and the historical roots of the spice trade in Europe. Germany: Discovering cities that fuse modernity and history, along with an analysis of the importance of German gastronomy, from bakeries to beer brewing traditions. Throughout the trip, partnerships with local organizations, chefs, and cultural experts will be formed to organize authentic and accessible experiences that allow participants to connect with each country’s history and diversity through its cuisine. Reflection and Dissemination: Sharing the Learning Upon returning to Burgos, a day of evaluation and reflection will take place, where participants will: ✔️ Share their experiences and learnings. ✔️ Create digital materials (blogs, videos, podcasts) to inspire other young people. ✔️ Receive participation certificates, recognizing their personal and cultural growth. This process will not only preserve the project’s methodology but also make it replicable for future editions, ensuring its sustainability and expansion. Impact and Future of the Project The Mediterranean Organization for Research and Development has witnessed the transformative impact of traveling and discovering new cultures. With "From the Table to History", we seek to: ✅ Promote inclusion within the Erasmus program, ensuring more young people have access to international experiences. ✅ Promote European culture and cuisine as tools for education and intercultural dialogue. ✅ Create a stronger, more connected Erasmus community based on the exchange of experiences.
