Objectives

Our DiscoverEU project aims to give young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in Jerez de la Frontera the opportunity to travel, learn and grow. By participating in this experience, they will develop essential life skills such as teamwork, problem solving, adaptability and cultural awareness. One of our main objectives is to bring together two Romani and two Spanish participants, allowing them to break down social barriers, exchange perspectives and understand each other better. Throughout their journey, they will explore the historical migration of the Romani people from Romania to Spain, deepening their knowledge of a key part of Andalusian heritage. This will help foster mutual respect and an appreciation of diversity. In addition, the project aims to show young people that EU programmes can broaden their horizons, helping them to gain independence, discover new cultures and see the world from a different perspective. By travelling to new places and interacting with different communities, they will feel more hopeful about their future and motivated to seek out further educational or professional opportunities. Beyond personal growth, we want participants to share their experiences with their peers through school visits, youth centre events and social media. This will inspire more young people to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the EU. Overall, this project is about empowerment, inclusion and cultural understanding, ensuring that disadvantaged young people can experience the benefits of mobility and lifelong learning.
