The youth exchange project led by Compagnons Bâtisseurs Centre-Val de Loire is part of an international solidarity and non-formal education approach aimed at fostering civic engagement, social inclusion and intercultural dialogue between young people from France and Morocco. Implemented in summer 2025 in the working-class district of Hay Mohammadi in Casablanca, in partnership with the Association Initiative Urbaine, the project responds to a dual challenge: on the one hand, limited access to international mobility and engagement opportunities for young people with fewer opportunities; on the other hand, the need to improve living conditions and enhance public spaces in an urban area undergoing significant transformation. The objectives of the project were to enable young people from diverse backgrounds to experience international mobility for the first time, to engage collectively in participatory projects aimed at improving public spaces, and to develop social, civic and intercultural skills. Through a cooperation process based on reciprocity and the active involvement of local residents, the project also sought to strengthen links between youth stakeholders in both countries and to promote the values of solidarity, openness and engagement upheld by the Erasmus+ programme.
