Objectives

The “Green Globe Trotters” project was created to bring together 19 young people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds for six days in France to share knowledge, develop new skills, and broaden their horizons through the themes of sustainable development, ecotourism, and green transportation. The theme of sustainable development was chosen because it has been of crucial importance for several years, and this topic is key to fostering dialogue: it affects everyone, and exceeding planetary boundaries is a top priority, present everywhere—in the news, in political agendas, and in all new standards for societies and for people in every country around the world. The goal of this project was to raise awareness about sustainable development, provide a deeper understanding of the carbon footprint, and highlight the small, everyday actions that anyone can take to be more eco-friendly and respectful of the environment we all share. By organizing and participating in workshops, presentations, simulations, and debates, they acquired new skills: teamwork, leadership, communication, active listening, respecting others’ opinions, and more. This project also aimed to provide an opportunity to expand participants’ knowledge of eco-responsibility in order to encourage them to adopt a healthier and more environmentally friendly lifestyle. The aims of this project can therefore be grouped under three of the objectives for European youth set for 2019–2027: A Green and Sustainable Europe - Bring together about twenty young people from Germany, France, and Hungary to discuss sustainable development, eco-responsibility, and green transportation. - Actively and creatively involve them in all phases of the project. - Engage, support, and guide participants in creating and leading non-formal activities related to the exchange’s themes. - Develop the young people’s skills in the areas covered and introduce the group to more environmentally friendly practices in all areas (transportation, food, consumption, etc.) - Improve participants’ ability to question their consumption habits and travel patterns. - Improve their skills in the fields of ecology, ecotourism, and sustainable development. INCLUSIVE SOCIETIES - Include young people from diverse backgrounds—who may face social and economic challenges—in the project. - Encourage the creation of a more inclusive and respectful society. - Promote quality learning for all, without distinction, through non-formal education. YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS AND EUROPEAN PROGRAMS - For ESN Besançon and the MFR of Pontarlier: gain a better understanding of the EU’s youth strategy and the challenges of KA1 projects and youth exchanges in general. - Gain more experience in organizing international exchanges - Expand our network and discover new methods and approaches with reliable partners to organize high-quality projects. - Encourage healthy habits that are environmentally friendly and sustainable over time.
