Objectives

The "MultiLingui: identities, in-between spaces and post-colonialism in the footsteps of Homi Bahbah" project aimed to enhance the competences of youth workers by deepening their understanding of multilingualism, cultural hybridity, and post- colonial influences within youth work. Drawing inspiration from Homi Bhabha’s concept of “in-between spaces,” the project focused on equipping youth workers with critical knowledge and practical tools that address the complexities of language, identity, and power dynamics in intercultural contexts. The core objective was to support youth workers in developing a better awareness of linguistic colonialism and implicit biases, and to help them foster inclusive environments where young people can explore these themes. By integrating innovative non-formal education methods, the project also introduced creative techniques, such as participatory photography, social community theatre, kano-cards, multilingual tools and text study, which engaged youth workers in conversations around identity, language, and cultural hybridity. This approach promotes intercultural dialogue but also enables youth workers to apply these methods in both local and international youth exchanges. Ultimately, the project empowered youth workers and their network beyond with tools that can positively impact young people, fostering an inclusive and reflective atmosphere that encourages self-awareness and active participation.
