The primary aim of this project is to empower youth workers, community leaders, and activists to counter violent and divisive narratives, promoting positive, peaceful alternatives in their communities. By equipping participants with innovative tools and skills, particularly through artistic and digital methods, the project seeks to build a network of peacebuilders across Europe who will engage young people in the active promotion of peace, social inclusion, and human rights. The project focuses on providing youth workers with the capacity to address issues of conflict, discrimination, and human rights violations, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to engage with young people creatively and constructively. The ultimate goal is to create a lasting, sustainable impact by empowering youth workers to implement grassroots peacebuilding initiatives, fostering social cohesion, and supporting the integration of underrepresented groups, including migrants, into European societies. Objectives: 1. To enhance participants’ understanding of how violent narratives emerge, spread them with tools for critical analysis and deconstruction of harmful discourse; 2. To develop participants’ media and digital literacy skills, enabling them to recognize, critically assess, and respond to disinformation, propaganda, and hate speech; 3. To train youth workers in using storytelling, artistic expression, and visual communication as methods for constructing alternative peaceful narratives that promote dialogue and inclusion; 4. To empower participants with nonviolent communication strategies that help address polarization, engage in constructive dialogue, and challenge divisive rhetoric in their communities; 5. To provide participants with hands-on experience in designing at least 5 local initiatives that promote peace and counter harmful narratives through creative and innovative methods; 6. To create a network of youth workers, activists, and community leaders dedicated to fostering peace narratives and challenging harmful discourse across Europe, supporting each other in long-term advocacy efforts. This project goes beyond traditional media literacy or counter-extremism approaches by emphasizing creative and artistic methods as tools for peacebuilding. By combining critical thinking with storytelling, visual arts, and nonviolent communication, we aim to make counter-narrative work more accessible, engaging, and impactful for young people and their communities.
