Objectives

The primary aim of A.CLIMAT.é 2: Thriving Beyond Crisis is to empower youth workers to play a pivotal role in addressing the climate emergency while fostering resilience and hope among European youth. This project recognizes the dual challenges of escalating eco-anxiety and the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in high-impact sectors such as buildings and agriculture. In light of these emergent challenges currently threatening the prosperity and stability of the EU and the world, the importance of youth workers’ empowerment via a 13-day learning experience that facilitates the global transition towards low-emission, energy-efficient buildings, regenerative food systems and active communities seems particularly topical. The ‘A.CLIMAT.é.’ 2 Youth Worker Mobility is the evolution of the previous training ‘A.CLIMAT.é.’ (2022) and perfectly aligned with all the previous Erasmus + training programmes that we have hosted based on our holistic approach for sustainability. The primary objective of this Professional Development activity is to equip Youth Workers with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to implement sustainable practices in their communities, thereby generating local opportunities and empowering young people. Specifically, we aim to train 35 youth workers from seven countries in energy-efficient construction, bioclimatic design and food security through hands-on learning. The project emphasizes experiential education, helping youth workers adopt and share sustainable living practices. It focuses on building community leadership, empowering participants in creating resilient and self-sustaining communities. The project aims to provide youth workers with tools to help young people navigate eco-anxiety and climate-related emotions. By fostering environmental well-being and a mindset of resilience, youth workers can transform fear and hopelessness into motivation for action and resilience. The training course is guided by 3 skilled trainers, within the welcoming setting of the Northern Lights farm (France). Non-formal learning activities presented at the training event aim at enhancing the skills and competences of young people as well as their active citizenship. Members of The Northern Lights organisation as well as local actors will also contribute their experience in their field of expertise. A.CLIMAT.é 2 enhances European cooperation among youth workers by fostering the exchange of best practices, resources, and ideas. Through a multicultural ecoliving experience, the project aims to develop social and intercultural skills among youth workers. The collaborative nature of the project will lead to the creation of networking opportunities and partnerships across Europe, amplifying their collective impact in promoting active citizenship and sustainable, inclusive development. The project aligns with Erasmus+ objectives, European Commission priorities and the EU Green Deal by enhancing the professional and civic engagement skills of youth workers and bringing both awareness and practical solutions on important topics of climate emergency, food sovereignty and energy security. The project fosters quality youth work and encourages innovative solutions to environmental challenges, ultimately contributing to long-term sustainability goals. Pedagogical results and lessons learned from the project are expected to be disseminated through publications and actions by participants and their organisations. This dissemination process can contribute to peer-to-peer training, seminars on teaching methods, and the sharing of successful practices within the organizations represented by the participants. Participants will act as ambassadors of the project, sharing their knowledge and experiences with a broader youth network and disseminating them to their communities to maximize the project's positive impact. By achieving these objectives, A.CLIMAT.é 2 Thriving Beyond Crisis not only addresses the pressing need for climate action but also empowers youth workers providing accessible practical solutions. The Northern Lights organisation aims to inspire transformative change, ensuring the project’s impact extends far beyond its immediate duration. By integrating the project’s principles into their daily work, youth workers will play a key role in building resilient communities. These efforts will focus on creating new job opportunities, revitalizing rural areas, developing eco-friendly housing and promoting sustainable living practices - all of which contribute to positive change and community development.
