Objectives

The main aim of the project is to train future volunteer mentors and the staff supporting mentors in embedding a wellfunctioning mentoring system in their organisations so that they can improve the quality of the volunteering cycle in their organisations. Specific objectives: The participating youth organisation will have: - an increased understanding of the volunteer cycle and the needs of volunteers during different phases of their volunteer service (before-during-after), - reflected on the importance of personal learning/development plans as well for the mentors as the volunteers - Better trained mentors which can pass on their knowledge of non-formal education methods, peace education and nonviolent communication (all useful tools for being a mentor) to other mentors in the organisation. - Developed a mentor system in their organisation that takes into account the needs of the mentors and volunteers and supports the mentors in their mentoring task. The main target groups of this project are: - staff of the involved youth organisations who oversee the volunteer cycle in their organisations and are responsible for setting up the mentoring system in their organisation - volunteer and/or paid youth workers who already take up a mentoring role in the organisation - volunteers, who preferably have a long term volunteering experience, and are motivated to take up a mentoring role in the near future or in the framework of this learning path.
