The DiscoverEU project at Mission Locale Sud de La Réunion aims to offer young people with fewer opportunities an international mobility experience in Europe, with the main objective of helping them develop personal, social and professional skills. In response to their social and economic difficulties, we have chosen to orient the project around the discovery of architecture and design in Spain and Portugal, in line with the destinations proposed by the DiscoverEU program. The main aim is to promote the social and professional inclusion of young people in difficulty. Through this experience, we aim to offer them a unique opportunity to boost their employability by developing practical skills, notably in project management, autonomy and intercultural communication. The project is designed to help these young people open up to the world, while enabling them to acquire key skills that will improve their integration into the job market. Another fundamental objective of the project is to stimulate their cultural openness. Reunion's young people are often geographically and culturally isolated, and this mobility will enable them to discover for the first time a reality different from their own. The theme of discovering architecture and design in Spain and Portugal, chosen in line with DiscoverEU's proposals, aims to arouse their curiosity while raising their awareness of the impact of these disciplines on European heritage and urban development. In addition, we aim to strengthen their autonomy and self-confidence. The project will put these young people in a learning situation, challenging them to deal with the unexpected, make decisions and adapt to a totally new environment. This experience will be a decisive step in their personal development, enabling them to overcome challenges with the support of experienced Mission Locale advisors who will accompany them throughout their mobility. By choosing Spain and Portugal as destinations, we are offering these young people the chance to discover cultures rich in architectural history and design innovation, helping to awaken their curiosity and broaden their perspectives for the future.
