Through this project, Concordia aims to address an urgent issue faced by all associations working in the field of mobility programs: the disengagement of the younger generation, at least the French one, from European and international mobility projects. As highlighted by the 2024 Youth Barometer from INJEP, while it is true that young people aged 15 to 30 in France are very active at the local level, although sporadically and intermittently, particularly in fields such as culture, the environment, and sports, it is equally true that these young people struggle to get involved in European and international mobility projects. This trend leads to a further reduction in the number of activities that associations like Concordia can offer, which is already threatened by public and national policies that increasingly aim to weaken the social sector. Furthermore, our regional delegations’ work reveals that this trend is even more pronounced among disadvantaged youth who, despite being interested in mobility programs, are hesitant to seize these opportunities. The are differents reasons: - Lack of a real knowledge about the access conditions for these mobility programs; - Fear of lacking the necessary skills to participate in these programs; - Personal obstacles and conditions that young people face, which may be socio-economic, cultural, or geographic in nature, preventing them from seizing different opportunities; - Feelings of insecurity and fear when facing unfamiliar experiences; - Incompatibility of these programs with young people’s daily obligations; - The organizational and administrative time required for mobility can discourage young people to leave. Concordia aims to reverse this downward trend in European mobility departures by a project designed to make travel a true catalyst for transformation, a lever for personal growth, active engagement toward a common future, and self-exploration. We want to offer to 50 young people with fewer opportunities the chance to step out of their comfort zone through their first mobility experience, either in group or individually, supported and guided through all its phases by Concordia. These young people, coming from different geographic areas and with differents profiles, will be selected by our regional delegations and local partners based on their motivation and on the empowerment that this experience can offer, both personally and professionally. Concordia will work closely with these young people and their potential mentors to remove barriers to mobility and engagement. Through regular meetings with our territorial teams, the young participants will be informed about the European policies and values that ensure taht these mobility programs are accessible to all profiles, in line with the principle that every European citizen can find their path, regardless of their origin. The support at every stage of the project, from logistical and administrative preparation to implementation, and from valorization to final evaluation, will limit dropout rates and will be ensured by Concordia coordinators, who have solid experience in guiding and mentoring young people. Thanks to EURope exprESS, the young participants will gain a better understanding of the Erasmus+ program, the legacy of the European Union that historically, socially, politically, and culturally unites us all, and will enhance their civic skills by becoming active agents in promoting a fair, inclusive, and sustainable society. We hope that this project will inspire many young people to get involved in other types of projects, whether through international mobility or at the local level, so they can continue cultivating their active participation. We also believe in the power of peer-to-peer awareness, and we hope that these young people will become ambassadors for mobility, influencing others of the same age to explore engagement opportunities.
