Over the last two editions, we have worked to improve certain technical aspects of the DiscoverEU programme, in particular those relating to train travel with the Interrail pass and the age limit for participants. We decided to continue with this programme because of the changes and transformations we observed in the participants. This type of mobility is a real springboard for young people who have never had the opportunity to discover Europe or practise English outside the classroom. With this project, we want to help them gain confidence in themselves and their abilities. We want them to be able to look forward to their future professional and personal lives outside their everyday lives and beyond national borders. This project is also an opportunity to attract young people who are not familiar with the Erasmus + programmes to European mobility. DiscoverEU placements are often a first experience of mobility for young people from rural areas. This group has specific needs, which means we need to improve the way our organisation works and processes to make them more inclusive and open. What's more, this group is often the furthest removed from European and national institutions. We want them to discover the diversity and richness of Europe: the wealth of European landscapes, cultures and innovations on the continent. We also want to make them aware of European unity and their place in democracy at national and European level. Our aim is to help young participants discover Europe through its environment, culture, history and innovations.Through these themes and activities, we hope to develop the participants' knowledge and skills in a non-formal and informal way. This project also represents an opportunity to perfect our organisation's communication strategies. Reaching young people who are far removed from the EU, young people with ‘fewer opportunities’ between the ages of 18 and 21, represents a complex communication exercise that will enable us to refine our skills and methods. In the same way, supporting these young people in the various organisational aspects of setting up mobility schemes helps to develop the support skills of our structure and the organisational, communication, comprehension, social and management skills of the young people included in this project. It's because of what it brings to the participants (openness to others and to Europe) and to our organisation that we want to set up this project.
