Objectives

The project was implemented in response to the growing need to support young people in developing resilience as a key factor in mental well-being. Participants have identified that young people were facing increasing challenges connected to constant social change, societal pressures, uncertainty, misinformation, discrimination, and harmful ideologies. Although mental health awareness and support systems had become more visible, many young people were still struggling with anxiety, bullying, social pressure, and the ability to cope with difficult real-life situations. The overall aim of the project was to empower young people with practical tools that would help them build resilience, protect their mental well-being, and respond more confidently to challenges in their personal lives and communities. The project also aimed to encourage participants to think critically about existing support systems, especially the concept of safe spaces, and to explore how they could become more effective in preparing young people for real-world situations. The project had two main objectives: 1. Empower youth with resilience and advocacy skills The first objective was to equip young people with the tools and skills necessary to build mental resilience, adapt to rapid societal changes, and advocate for their rights and the rights of marginalized groups. Through the project, participants improved their stress management, emotional intelligence, and advocacy skills. This objective was especially important because young people needed to be prepared for possible challenges connected to human rights, safe spaces, inclusivity, misinformation, and discrimination. 2. Rethinking safe space The second objective was to rethink safe spaces and prioritize personal well-being. The project explored how current safe space strategies, although created to provide inclusivity and security, could sometimes fail to address issues such as hypersensitivity, overreacting, and tolerance. The project encouraged a redesign of safe space models so that they would not only protect young people, but also help them develop resilience, personal accountability, and constructive conflict resolution. In this way, the project aimed to equip young people with the tools needed to navigate real-world challenges more effectively.
