Objectives

The idea to write this project, Homeconomics, with the Institute of Youth Power being the applicant organisation, came as a result of several youth exchanges implemented by the Institute of Youth Power. Acquiring life-practical skills is one of the ways of connecting theory and practice. We want our participants to achieve competences that are acquired through practical work combining it with non-formal methods, i.e. work with hands, changing the educational system to adapt to the needs of the youngsters who are in contact with youth workers, social workers, teachers and educators. We want to continue the non formal education and to emphasise the importance of different learning models: learning by doing, learning by playing, learning by discovery and learning by experience. Furthermore, we want to raise awareness about positive changes we can make on a personal level so that we can be more inclusive on the collective level. Also, to support youth workers in becoming leaders in their communities while being inclusive, to tackle climate change by finding out which actions we can take, starting from the small actions. and to discover the possibilities of the Erasmus+ programme to build projects and to work towards social inclusion. Our decision was backed up by a very extensive analysis. The highlighted results are that 50% expressed basic or poor, followed by >30% with fair knowledge. More than 70% of examinees expressed dissatisfaction with their knowledge in the 16 topics when asked about their skill level in the 16 topics stated in the questionnaire. The objectives of the project: O1. To highlight benefits of learning by doing, learning by playing, learning by discovery and learning by experience, and how to continuously do it, and to make the youth workers understand a long-term perspective of benefits of applying them. At the same time, to stimulate creativity. O2. To promote transferable social and educational competencies and skills through working with hands and creativity. O3. To coordinate and work constructively with others, overcoming cultural and language barriers, to achieve common goals and how can youth workers use working with hands as tools for increasing active participation, inclusion, and education of young people (especially with fewer opportunities). Our project supports the professional development of those working in training and youth work with a view of improving the quality of training and youth work across Europe. It also enhances the role of youth workers and the international dimension of youth activities through the promotion of mobility and cooperation between international organisations. O4. To promote the non-formal education and informal learning mobility, as well as the accessibility of the Erasmus + Programme in general, especially for youth workers and in this way to strengthen the cooperation between our partners organisations and to plan new activities together by exchanging best practices.
