Objectives

The motivation for this project comes from recognizing the crucial role youth workers play in shaping young people's lives in an increasingly digital world. As technology evolves, so do the challenges and opportunities faced by youth. Many youth workers stand on the front lines, supporting personal development, education, and social integration. However, a significant number lack adequate training in digital competences, limiting their effectiveness in providing guidance. Many youth workers lack essential digital skills, with the European Commission reporting that 42% of Europeans do not possess basic digital skills. This gap hinders their ability to engage with young people effectively. A growing demand for youth inclusion strategies emphasizes the need for digital literacy, as Eurostat indicates that about 20% of adults in the EU have never used the internet. Concerns regarding cybersecurity and online safety are critical, with 29% of young people reporting online harassment. Interviews conducted among partner organizations highlighted a strong desire for enhanced training in digital competences, reinforcing the need to address this skills gap and ensure youth workers can support young individuals in a technology-driven world. "Wired for Change" brings together 32 persons from Hungary, Greece, Netherlands, Malta, Spain and Czechia for a six-day training course. This initiative aims to equip youth workers with the skills necessary to enhance their effectiveness, enabling them to create inclusive spaces that promote equal access to opportunities for all young individuals. The implementation of this project aims to empower youth workers with essential digital competences, enhancing their ability to support young individuals in navigating an increasingly complex digital landscape. Through targeted training in digital tools, online safety, and inclusive practices, the project seeks to create a community of practice among youth workers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. Addressing the needs of marginalized groups and promoting a culture of inclusion remains a priority, ensuring all young people have equal access to opportunities and resources. Ultimately, the project aspires to improve the quality and effectiveness of youth work, equipping participants to advocate for young people's needs and drive positive change in their communities. The objectives of the project are as follows: -- Enhance digital competences among youth workers to improve their engagement with young people. -- Promote online safety and cybersecurity awareness to guide youth in navigating digital spaces securely. -- Foster inclusive practices within youth work to address the needs of marginalized groups facing barriers. -- Strengthen networking and collaboration among youth workers to share best practices and resources. -- Ensure the sustainability of learning outcomes to benefit youth work practice beyond the training. In summary, the project aims to achieve a transformative impact on youth work practice, focusing on the development of digital competences, promotion of online safety, fostering inclusion, strengthening collaboration, and empowering youth workers. These objectives align with the broader goals of improving the quality and effectiveness of youth work in a digital age.
