Objectives

The "Your Voice, Your EUrope" project aims to foster active citizenship, democratic participation and awareness of the European Union among young people with fewer opportunities. Through non-formal educational methods and travel experience, the project helps participants to develop their skills and self-awareness. Our initiative provides opportunities for young individuals who are actively engaged in their communities, committed to youth participation projects and interested in public affairs, allowing them to experience democracy and participation across European countries. During the program, participants gain deeper insights into the functioning of European institutions and explore their rights and responsibilities as citizens within the EU’s democratic processes. Young people will gain direct experience of living democracy of the EU: its decision-making processes and the role of the different European institutions. They will also learn how to engage as active citizens in EU-related matters, such as participating in youth consultations or understanding the operations of EU institutions. Our goal is for young people with fewer opportunities to recognize that they can contribute to shaping the future of the EU—whether through youth organizations, participatory forums or exercising their voting rights. During the visits, participants will directly interact with various EU institutions (e.g., the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the European Council), gaining insight into their roles and how they impact everyday life. Special attention is given to ensuring that young people perceive the EU as relevant to their own lives and understand how collective decisions influence their daily experiences. This project specifically supports young people who have fewer opportunities to gain international experiences, such as participating in mobility projects. Through travel, they are given the chance to open up to the world, experience mobility and discover new perspectives in a safe environment, with the support not only from their peers but also from an experienced group leader. Intercultural learning, non-formal education methods and experiential learning activities help them become more independent, boost their self-confidence, and enhance their cooperation skills. Throughout the project, participants will improve various competencies such as communication skills, critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork through interactive and gamified learning methods. Non-formal learning techniques will be applied before, during, and after the visits to reinforce their learning experience. Young people will not only acquire practical knowledge but will also reflect on their learning processes based on their personal experiences. Through daily and final evaluations, they will have the opportunity to articulate what new knowledge and skills they have gained and how they can apply them within their own communities. The project’s ultimate goal is not merely to provide young people with a visit to EU institutions but to empower them to become active, conscious and responsible citizens. By using non-formal education tools, we ensure that the knowledge and experiences gained during the journey become deeply embedded in their thinking and have a long-term impact on their lives. The project promotes active participation, enhances young people’s self-confidence and strengthens European identity. At the same time, it equips participants with concrete tools to take an active role in democratic processes, ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping the future of the EU.
