Objectives

“Let’s Connect with Nature!” was developed in response to concerns raised by young people from Ireland and Georgia about their increasing disconnection from nature, particularly after COVID-19 and the rise in excessive digital technology use. Many participants expressed a desire to reconnect with the natural environment, improve their environmental awareness, and take meaningful action against climate change. The project aimed to bring together young people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, including participants with fewer opportunities, to promote environmental responsibility, inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and active citizenship through non-formal education methods. The main objectives of the project were: To increase young people’s knowledge of biodiversity, sustainability, and climate change. To develop green skills and promote sustainable daily practices. To reconnect young people with nature through outdoor, experiential learning activities. To foster intercultural understanding and cooperation between Irish and Georgian youth. To promote inclusion by actively involving young people facing economic, geographical, and social barriers. To empower participants to become multipliers of environmental awareness in their local communities. The project aligned with the Erasmus+ priorities of Environment and Fight Against Climate Change, Inclusion and Diversity, and supported the development of key competences through Youthpass recognition.
