The primary goal of this project was to explore best practices in the provision of youth spaces in Helsinki to support the development of a dedicated youth hub and youth friendly spaces within cultural and civic buildings in Galway City. By learning from successful youth work models from partners in the City of Helsinki Youth Division, the project aimed to enhance the quality and accessibility of youth services for marginalised and vulnerable young people. The study visit mobility aimed to enable youth workers, youth work managers and community development organisations to gain insights into multi-stakeholder partnerships and innovative approaches to creating safe, inclusive, and engaging spaces for young people. The mobility responded to address the needs identified in the Youth Hub research conducted by Galway City Council, TUSLA Galway, and Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board in 2024. The report had highlighted the need for safe spaces, more youth activities, and more support from trusted adults for young people in Galway City. GRETB Creative Youth Partnership and Youth Services led the development of a KA1 Youth Worker Mobility to develop discourse and learning in Best Practice and Innovative Development.
