Change the Story, Change the World is a six-day training course which aims to develop the capacity of youth workers to tackle poverty, inequality, climate change and other global issues through storytelling and global education. The objectives are: 1) Highlight and explain the principles of effective storytelling 2) Examine the importance and role of values and frames in our storytelling and public communications 3) Introduce and develop concepts related to global education 4) Explore the role of emotion and compassion in youth work 5) Explore diverse methods of engagement related to global education and storytelling including ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’ We wish to strengthen the capacity of youth workers to use global education practices in order to effectively engage with the young people and to increase their awareness of the importance of storytelling in youthwork settings and the skills needed to optimise its effectiveness.
