Objectives

Discovering me in the EU will take a group of 5 young people from Dublin's North Inner city to Europe for a once in a lifetime inter-railing experience. While they will travel together as a group, we have learned that each of the participants will have different experiences and take different learning from it. This type of triop where they will not only have an opportunity to meet with their EU peers and make memories but also embrace a journey of self discovery, personal development, fun, and experienced based life learning, would not be possible without the supports under this action. The group will be exposed to different cultures and foster a positive experience of people and traditions different to them as well as gain independence and a sense of their place in society and within the EU. The young people we work with have limitless potential, creativity and inspiration. We know from experience and fully believe this, and so it is our responsibility to nurture their talents and work with them toward their self-realisation that their potential is limitless, providing opportunities for growth and development. Unfortunately young people are faced with many barriers, limited beliefs of themselves are imposed on them because of the communities they come from. Anti-social behaviour and criminality is normalised, that includes racism, prejudice, discrimination, violence and far-right narratives growing within their community environment.. This project is a perfect opportunity to provide a positive cultural experience for young people, create intercultural dialogue that we can transcend more respect and solidarity among young people. We want to carry out this project to get young people out of their day to day environment and into a new learning space. PROJECT OBJECTIVES: 1) Give young people an opportunity to travel 2)Young people will be exposed to and experience new cultures 3)Meet new people and connect with EU peers 4) Support young people to get out of their comfort, think independently and challenge their conditioned thinking and views
