The project "Words Can Art" was created to address one of the most pressing challenges faced by today’s youth: digital hyperconnection and its side effects on mental health, social relationships, and individual well-being. The overuse of technology and constant exposure to social media are leading to phenomena such as isolation, digital addiction, anxiety, and functional illiteracy, making it necessary to implement educational interventions that help young people develop tools to manage their online presence more consciously. Through an approach based on creative writing and visual arts, the project aims to provide participants with new personal expression and emotional processing methods. The activities planned in the Words Lab, which includes techniques such as cut-up, blackout poetry, and storytelling, foster the development of critical thinking and creativity—essential tools to counteract the conformity imposed by the digital world and to stimulate greater self-awareness. From the perspective of youth work practices, "Words Can Art" represents a concrete opportunity to actively involve participants in the design, implementation, and dissemination of activities, empowering them and strengthening their role in the learning process. The participatory approach ensures that young people are not mere recipients of the project but active protagonists in an educational journey based on non-formal education methods and peer-to-peer learning. One of the main objectives of the project is to promote social inclusion by ensuring access to activities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds or those at risk of exclusion. In this sense, the project aligns with the priorities of Erasmus+ and the European Union Youth Strategy 2019-2027, offering growth and training opportunities to those with fewer chances to participate in international mobility experiences. At the local level, the project is of particular importance to the community of Orta Nova, which has recently been recognized as an area of high social vulnerability. In this context, "Words can Art" serves as a tool to create new spaces for youth gatherings and encourage young people's active participation in initiatives of social and cultural value. Through the event "Words on Display," participants will have the opportunity to showcase their work to the community, raising awareness about the importance of mental health and digital detox. The expected impact of the project goes beyond the short term, aiming to generate lasting changes in the habits and awareness of the young people involved. Thanks to collaboration with international partners from Greece, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Turkey, the project fosters intercultural dialogue and the creation of collaborative networks in the youth work sector. The interdisciplinary approach allows the issue of hyperconnection to be tackled from various perspectives, enriching the participants’ experiences and providing them with concrete tools to face the challenges of the digital society. In summary, "Words Can Art" aims to: Raise awareness among young people about the risks of hyperconnection and promote more conscious digital use; Use creative writing as a tool for expression and mental well-being; Strengthen critical thinking, creativity, and self-narration skills; Promote social inclusion and active participation; Create youth gathering spaces at both local and international levels; Encourage the dissemination of good practices in the field of youth work. Through these actions, the project aligns perfectly with the objectives of the Erasmus+ Program and contributes to creating a stimulating learning environment where young people can rediscover the value of words and creativity as tools for personal and collective growth.
