The primary goal of this project is to engage young people in exploring complex social issues such as civic engagement, inclusion, cultural heritage and sustainability in an innovative and interactive way. Using Live Action Role Play (LARP), the project immerses participants in a medieval setting, allowing them to reflect on historical and contemporary societal structures, governance and cultural dynamics. Through this experiential learning approach, participants will develop essential soft skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership and problem-solving, which are critical for personal and professional growth. A central objective of the project is to promote intercultural dialogue. The project specifically targets young people facing geographical, social, and economic challenges, ensuring equal access to meaningful learning opportunities. Bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds, the project provides a space where they can interact, share experiences and break down stereotypes. Through role-playing activities, they will develop empathy, cultural awareness and a deeper understanding of diversity, all of which are vital for building inclusive societies. This also strengthens their sense of European identity and highlights the value of shared cultural heritage. The project also aims to foster sustainability and environmental responsibility. Recreating aspects of medieval life provides participants with the opportunity to experience simpler ways of living, promoting reflection on resource use and sustainable practices. Activities such as manual crafts, food preparation and sustainable community-building exercises will help participants appreciate traditional skills and eco-friendly lifestyles, encouraging them to apply these principles to modern life. Empowering young people to take an active role in democratic life is another key aim. By simulating medieval political systems, participants will engage with governance structures, social mobility and civic engagement in an interactive way. Through role-play, they will better understand decision-making processes, power dynamics and community organization, fostering a greater interest in civic participation and encouraging them to be active citizens in their own societies. In addition, the project focuses on mental well-being and digital detox. In today’s digital age, young people often experience the negative effects of excessive screen time, such as diminished social skills and mental health concerns. The immersive nature of the activities allows participants to disconnect from technology, engage in face-to-face interactions and practice mindfulness, promoting a healthy balance between digital and real-life experiences. From a youth work perspective, the project seeks to enhance personal and social development through non-formal education and experiential learning. By creating a safe and supportive environment, it allows young people to explore important societal issues while developing life skills. The project fosters a sense of belonging, self-confidence and empowerment, preparing participants for future challenges in both their personal and professional lives. The project also equips young people with key competences such as teamwork, leadership, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving. These skills are highly valued in the job market and will help participants become active, responsible citizens. Additionally, by organizing a Medieval Fair, participants will gain hands-on experience in event management, coordination and teamwork, strengthening their organizational skills and ability to collaborate effectively with others. In sum, this project aims to make learning fun, interactive, and impactful by combining history, role-play, sustainability, and civic engagement in a unique and meaningful experience. It promotes inclusion, intercultural exchange, sustainability, digital well-being and active citizenship, all of which align with the priorities of Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges. Through non-formal learning, participants will not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also practical experience that will help them become more engaged, informed, and responsible members of society.
