The ECHOES II project aims to offer a training and experiential pathway based on non-formal education methods, in which young participants can deal with relevant issues such as the environment, cultural heritage and the valorisation of local traditions. Through creative activities, practical experiences and intercultural dialogues, the project aims to inspire profound and lasting change, stimulating in the participants a proactive approach towards their communities of origin. The main objectives can be summarised in the following points: 1. USE OF ART AS A MEANS OF EXPRESSION Theatre is a powerful means of personal and collective expression. Through theatre exercises, improvisations and the creation of performances, participants: Develop transversal skills, such as the ability to communicate, collaborate and solve problems. They promote rural traditions and overcome stereotypes, contributing to a positive narrative of rural areas. These artistic moments become an opportunity to reflect deeply on the relationship with oneself, with others and with the local community. The process culminates in the production of a Docu-Short Film, documenting all the phases of the project, giving visibility to these experiences and enhancing them for a wider audience. 2. INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE AND A SENSE OF EUROPEAN BELONGING ECHOES II encourages intercultural learning and promotes a shared vision of European identity through: The confrontation between young people of different nationalities, which reinforces values such as inclusion, solidarity and respect for differences. The adoption of a cooperative and sustainability-oriented mentality through small daily tasks and moments of shared reflection. Through cooperation and sharing experiences, participants develop a sense of belonging not only to their own community, but also to a wider European dimension. 3. INVOLVEMENT OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY A key aspect of ECHOES II is direct interaction with the inhabitants of the village of Melissa. Exchange and collaboration activities include: Interviews with the inhabitants, in which participants collect stories, traditions and testimonies related to rural life, promoting a cultural enhancement of the area. The popular dinner in the Piazza del Popolo, a culminating event that becomes a symbol of intercultural encounter and generational dialogue. 4. REDISCOVERY OF THE TERRITORY ECHOES II invites young people to explore and re-evaluate the natural environment and cultural heritage through: Practical activities such as harvesting and collecting materials while exploring the territory. A reflection on the relationship with nature, stimulated by moments of disconnection from technology and exercises to reconnect with the slow and authentic rhythms of rural life. The valorisation of Melissa's rural traditions, countering prejudices linked to the rural world and showing how villages can offer significant opportunities for young people. 5. DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS Through direct involvement in decision-making and organisational processes, participants develop core competencies for youth work, including: Soft skills such as teamwork, leadership and effective communication. Technical skills such as video editing and the use of video cameras and microphones, which prove to be fundamental in the creation of the documentary. These experiences are complemented with structured reflection moments, fostering personal growth and preparing young people to become actors of positive change within their communities.
