The project aimed to promote young people's understanding of the influence of culture on eating habits and health, a concept referred to as the "Cultural Diet", among participants from Italy, Malta, and Slovakia. It fostered intercultural exchange and mutual learning, empowering young people to become agents of change in promoting healthy eating habits and preserving Europe's culinary cultural heritage. The implementation of this project within the local communities proved particularly meaningful, as it highlighted how local culinary traditions are not only an essential part of cultural identity but also have a direct impact on people's physical and social well-being. At a time when globalised consumption patterns increasingly standardise diets and replace more sustainable traditional practices, the project provided a space for critical reflection on everyday eating habits and encouraged participants to rediscover the value of local products and recipes passed down through generations. Furthermore, the project strengthened participants' sense of belonging and social cohesion by engaging young people as active promoters of healthy lifestyles within their communities. As a result, the project generated not only individual learning outcomes but also a broader collective impact, contributing to sustainability, the preservation of cultural heritage, and the promotion of public health. The specific objectives of the project were to increase participants' awareness of the diversity of food cultures across Europe and the importance of preserving this cultural heritage; promote active and equal participation in all activities to ensure meaningful intercultural exchange; develop participants' intercultural communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and creativity skills, which were recognised through the Youthpass process; create and disseminate a bilingual digital intercultural cookbook featuring healthy and representative recipes from the three participating countries; and strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding among the partner organisations, laying the foundations for future collaboration in the fields of youth, culture, and health at the European level.
