The Voices Beyond the Borders project was born from the need, expressed by some participants of Mind the Gap, to explore the topic of migration through dialogue with other young Europeans. We believe that migratory flows are a historical phenomenon that has existed for millennia and has gained increasing relevance in the public debate at both national and European levels in recent decades. However, political and media narratives often simplify and distort this phenomenon, portraying it as an emergency, burdened with stereotypes, and exploited for propaganda purposes, especially during election periods. This approach has contributed to the spread of a negative perception of migrants, fueling discrimination, marginalization, and xenophobia. Faced with this reality, the young people involved in the project felt the need to create an authentic and in-depth dialogue to better understand the dynamics of migration and how it is portrayed by the media and political discourse. Voices Beyond the Borders therefore aims to actively engage participants in an open and authentic conversation, designed to deeply explore the complexity of one of the most significant issues of our time: migration.
