Peek-A-Boo aims to foster active citizenship in young people through volunteering. This goal arose on the basis of a survey that was conducted in the early phases of the project planning, which uncovered that many young people are experiencing a lack of initiative when it comes to taking action due to social disadvantages, communication problems and difficulties when distinguishing real and false information. Following the reveal of these issues, the program seeks to achieve the following objectives, that align closely with the objectives of the Erasmus+ programme: - Provide 35 youngsters with at least 3 tools consisting of workshops, role-playing exercises, and collaborative tasks, aiming at increasing by at least a 20% self-assessment scores related to taking initiative and problem-solving by the end of the project implementation phase. - Empower 35 young individuals by building a comprehensive toolkit comprising at least 5 distinct strategies or resources aimed at enhancing navigation through huge information loads and critical thinking, developed through targeted workshops, compiled research findings, and practical exercises conducted by the conclusion of the mobility program. - By the project's completion, enhance the teamwork role of 20 young individuals by fostering their capacity to identify, appreciate, and adapt to cultural and individual differences, aiming for an increase of minimum 25% in self-assessed scores on cultural competency evaluations through active participation in interactive workshops and immersive experiences. - Equip them with a series of workshops, collaborative tasks and strategies, aiming for a minimum 25% improvement on 25 of them in self-assessed scores on their active listening and communication skills in various channels, as measured by pre-and post-program evaluation, by the conclusion of the educational mobility project. The project aims to have a long lasting positive impact on the 35 participants, since by the end of its implementation they will be equipped with skills in communication, teamwork, decision-making and encouragement towards volunteering. Through the several activities of the project, that include workshops, storytelling and group discussions, they will navigate and develop self-awareness and motivation while navigating social pressures. In addition, the project will also foster intercultural understanding and will strengthen European identity. What is more, by the end of the exchange, the participants will demonstrate through the follow-up phase what they have learned by volunteering in their local community. They will share their personal insights and their journey, always having access to the networks they have developed during this exchange through some of the tools for contact provided (e.g. the WhatsApp Community Peek-A-Boo). To sum up, it can be said that Peek-A-Boo will boost the initiative and encouragement of young people, promoting active citizenship, social awareness, and personal improvement. This will make them conscious of their roles as modern citizens and their importance for future generations. We want to guide the participants so they can be self-conscious of their own progress, and push them to pursue what we once did and we are still doing.
