The “koKOLORness” project aims to address the growing negative impact of hyperconnectivity on young people’s mental health and their disengagement from community life. Through non-formal education and youth work practices, the project seeks to create meaningful opportunities for reflection, self-expression, and active participation. The main objective is to raise awareness among young people about the risks associated with excessive digital exposure, such as social anxiety, cyberbullying, digital dependency, and the decline of face-to-face communication skills. By fostering digital awareness and promoting mental well-being, the project encourages young people to reconnect with themselves, their peers, and their communities. From the perspective of youth work, “koKOLORness” focuses on empowering participants by developing transversal skills through creative activities such as painting, photography, and digital art. Art serves as a transformative tool, enabling young people to express their emotions, share personal stories, and build meaningful connections beyond the digital world. These activities not only stimulate creativity but also enhance key competences, including emotional resilience, self-confidence, and interpersonal skills, which are essential for personal growth and social inclusion. The project has several specific objectives. First, it aims to raise awareness of mental health issues, particularly the risks of hyperconnectivity, helping participants understand how digital overexposure affects their emotional well-being. Second, it seeks to develop digital literacy, project management, and artistic expression skills, equipping young people with tools to navigate both the online and offline worlds more effectively. Additionally, “koKOLORness” promotes social inclusion and solidarity through cultural and artistic initiatives that foster community engagement and reduce feelings of isolation. Another key objective is to encourage participants to become multipliers of change by leading follow-up activities within their local communities, spreading awareness about the importance of digital balance and mental health. The project also contributes to strengthening the network of youth organizations working on well-being and environmental sustainability, promoting active citizenship, and increasing mobility opportunities for marginalized and rural youth. Through the development of key competences aligned with the Erasmus+ Programme—such as multilingualism, cultural awareness, active citizenship, and social skills—participants will gain valuable experiences that support lifelong learning and personal development. A highlight of the project is the “Rainbow Gallery,” an open-air art exhibition in San Giovanni Teatino, showcasing participants’ creations that reflect their journey of disconnecting from the digital world and reconnecting with their inner selves, creativity, and community. This public event will serve as a powerful platform to engage the local community, raise awareness about mental health, and celebrate the positive outcomes of the project. Ultimately, “koKOLORness” aims to empower young people, enhance their civic and social engagement, and foster active participation within their communities. By combining creative methodologies with intercultural collaboration, the project strengthens European identity, social cohesion, and active citizenship. It equips young people with essential skills for quality employment and sustainable growth, while promoting mental well-being and healthier lifestyles. Through these efforts, the project aligns with the broader goals of the European Youth Strategy, supporting young people in becoming active, responsible, and engaged citizens both locally and globally.
