Objectives

Beyond Borders from Italy, in collaboration with partner organisations KOM 018 from Serbia, Ticket2Europe from Spain, Youth for Sustainable Development (ATDD) from Romania, Dream Colors from the Czech Republic, Danish Youth Team from Denmark, Motivos Alternativos from Portugal, YES from Bulgaria and ADO from France, developed this project to address the growing need for media literacy education, especially among young people. This project builds on a previous strategic partnership KA2, led by Beyond Borders, which laid the foundation for collaboration between these organisations and highlighted the importance of addressing media literacy challenges. The results achieved by the KA2 project showed the need to continue and scale up the work done, leading to the creation of this new initiative. In today's rapidly changing digital environment, young people are increasingly exposed to media manipulation, disinformation and harmful content, all of which can have a negative impact on their personal and social development. To effectively address these challenges, the project aims to provide tools and skills for a critical and conscious use of digital media, while promoting active and responsible participation in society. The main objectives of the project are multiple and closely linked to the practice of youth work. Firstly, the project intends to raise young people's awareness of the risks of disinformation and fake news, providing them with the necessary skills to recognize and critically analyze information sources. This objective will be achieved through interactive workshops, seminars and practical training sessions that will directly involve participants. Secondly, the project aims to develop young people's digital skills, making them not only critical consumers of content, but also responsible creators. Multimedia production workshops will be organized where participants will be able to learn techniques for creating ethical and responsible digital content, favoring the dissemination of verified and reliable information. Another key objective is to promote critical thinking and analytical skills among young people, encouraging them to ask questions and evaluate information autonomously. This approach will help strengthen their decision-making autonomy and their ability to actively participate in democratic life. The project also aims to create a network of active and aware young people at European level, promoting the exchange of good practices and collaboration between different cultures and social contexts. Through international meetings and mobility activities, participants will have the opportunity to interact with peers from other countries, enriching their cultural background and broadening their vision of the world. From the point of view of youth work practice, the project intends to strengthen the skills of youth workers, providing them with innovative tools and methodologies to address the challenges related to media literacy. A specific training course for operators will be organized, with the aim of spreading effective and sustainable educational approaches. Finally, the project aims to raise awareness in local communities on the importance of media literacy and critical thinking, involving not only young people but also families, schools and institutions. Through information campaigns and public events, it intends to create an environment conducive to the development of aware and responsible digital citizenship. In summary, the project aims to: Increase young people's awareness of the risks of disinformation. Develop digital and ethical media production skills. Promote critical thinking and decision-making autonomy. Create a European network of active and aware young people. Strengthen the skills of youth workers. Raise awareness in local communities on the importance of media literacy.
