Objectives

The project "Death: A Word We Learn to Say Without Fear" was developed to promote a new perspective on grief, not as a traumatic experience to be avoided, but as a transformative part of life that can help people give meaning to loss, recognise human finitude, and support young people's emotional and psychological well-being. The project aimed to strengthen the competences of 18 youth workers from Estonia, Portugal, Spain, Slovenia, Romania and Italy by providing them with the tools and methodologies needed to design and facilitate educational activities that encourage young people to address and discuss grief in an open, conscious and participatory way. Another objective was to organise six local workshops, one in each partner country, involving at least 48 young people in total. Through participatory activities, personal testimonies, artistic methods and intercultural dialogue, the workshops promoted a deeper understanding of how death and grief are experienced across different cultures and historical contexts. The project also aimed to develop and disseminate an international digital toolkit containing the methodologies tested during the training, enabling other youth organisations and youth workers to replicate and adapt the activities in their own local contexts. Finally, the project sought to raise awareness within the international youth community by promoting a vision of death as a shared and transformative human experience through the production and dissemination of a video focused on collective memory, intergenerational dialogue and grief awareness.
