The project was born from the need to provide young people living in rural and disadvantaged areas with an opportunity for travel and training that they would otherwise not be able to access. In these areas, often characterized by a lack of places, moments, and initiatives aimed at socialization, community engagement, and cultural dissemination, young people often find themselves isolated, with few opportunities for exchange and personal growth. The sense of exclusion is even stronger for young people from a migrant background, who may face further marginalization due to social and cultural prejudices. From the very mode of travel chosen—group travel—the young participants will feel part of a single community, including both young people with a migrant background and those with other disadvantaged conditions. This heterogeneous group will learn to coexist, breaking down prejudices and differences. The structure and destinations of the trip have been carefully selected so that, by the end of the journey, participants will have gained an awareness of what it means to be European citizens. At each stop, the accompanying facilitators will guide the young people in understanding the importance of that particular place in the process of building and defining the European Union. The project's central theme is to learn and understand how the European Union succeeds in being "United in Diversity" and how it stands on solid foundations rooted in shared history, culture, and values born from Western civilization. In addition, the young participants will have the opportunity to visit major art sites, historical monuments, and take part in cultural and recreational events with local youth. In each city, a "special guide" will be present—someone originally from the same internal area, "Etrusco Cimina," as the participants, but who, due to study or work reasons, has moved to and permanently resides in the visited cities. This guide, who will change at each destination, has a dual role. On one hand, they will serve as a "cultural mediator," helping participants understand different behaviors, habits, customs, and mentalities of local youth. On the other hand, they will introduce participants to key social hubs, accompany them to cultural events, and facilitate meetings with other youth groups, allowing them to directly engage with their peers. In this way, their stay in various cities will not be merely as tourists, but as active participants experiencing, even in a mediated way, the daily lives of young people in different European countries. Another fundamental objective of the project is to promote the development of transversal skills, such as intercultural, linguistic, social, and organizational competencies. Participants will have the opportunity to develop greater self-awareness while simultaneously improving their ability to engage and interact in international contexts, organize similar experiences, and take part in project planning alongside other young people. The travel experience is designed as an innovative learning process that will help participants grow both personally and educationally. The project aims to create more aware, engaged, and inclusive European citizens. The project specifically seeks to reduce social exclusion among young people with fewer opportunities by granting them access to social and educational experiences beyond their everyday lives. It will allow them to engage with different realities and develop skills beneficial to both their personal and professional futures. Achieving this goal will encourage young people's active participation and involvement in initiatives within their communities and across Europe.
