Objectives

The project was implemented with the aim of offering ten young people with fewer opportunities a concrete experience of personal growth, social inclusion and discovery of Europe through DiscoverEU mobility. The initiative responded to the need to expand the educational opportunities of young people aged between 18 and 21 from the Villaggio del Fanciullo in Trento, an organisation supporting young people facing family, social and economic vulnerabilities. Many participants had never had the opportunity to travel abroad independently or to take part in non-formal learning experiences in an international context. The main objectives of the project were to tackle social exclusion, strengthen self-esteem and confidence in personal abilities, develop transversal competences and promote autonomy, decision-making skills and problem solving. The project also aimed to foster a sense of European citizenship, knowledge of the values of the European Union and the active involvement of young people in the planning and management of the experience. From an educational perspective, the mobility was designed as an experiential learning process: participants were involved in planning the trips, using digital tools, managing some logistical choices and reflecting daily on the competences acquired. The project also contributed to strengthening the competences of the organisations involved by testing an inclusive mobility model centred on the active participation of young people.
