The "Play Green, Live Clean" project aimed to bring together young participants from different countries and expose them to traditional and classic types of sports, promoting them as a tool that raises awareness about social inclusion, active citizenship, and sustainability, addressing the challenges faced by people and the planet. Through the non-formal integration of physical activity (using eco-friendly equipment, promoting a healthy lifestyle and diet, and playing sports outdoors) into youth education, our project focused on emphasising environmental challenges and the adoption of sustainable practices. This way, we aimed at fostering personal growth, cultural exchange, teamwork, leadership, and intercultural communication. Moreover, it was essential for us to try out an innovative approach that engages youth with fewer opportunities (migrants, refugees, and rural youth) and explores the intersection of sports, sustainability, and active citizenship. Young people, team leaders and facilitators coming from different countries brought rich and diverse perspectives on these topics.
