Objectives

Since 2023, as the applicant organization VšĮ Integruotų Sveikatos Paslaugų Centras, we have been coordinating several Erasmus+ youth exchanges that focus on improving young people's mental health and well-being. Our projects, such as "Personal Growth Initiative," "Singing 4 Wellbeing," "Source of Wellbeing: Volunteering," and "Conscious Nutrition," have helped young people cope with anxiety, build emotional resilience, and understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These initiatives have shown us that mental health issues are increasing among young people across Europe. According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2021), one in seven adolescents worldwide experiences mental health disorders, such as anxiety and depression. Research also shows that many young people do not have access to professional support, making community-based initiatives essential. This highlights the urgent need for more projects that help young people take care of their mental well-being. Our project, "Healing Dances", will use dance and movement therapy as powerful tools for supporting mental health, building self-confidence, and fostering social inclusion. Studies show that dance-based therapy reduces stress, improves mood, and increases emotional resilience (American Journal of Dance Therapy, 2022). Dance is a universal form of communication, making it an excellent way to help young people express emotions they may struggle to put into words. The main objectives of this project are: • Promoting mental well-being through dance and creative movement activities. • Teaching stress management techniques and building emotional resilience in young people. • Encouraging inclusion by bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds. • Raising awareness about alternative approaches to mental health support through movement-based therapy. • Providing a safe space where young people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
