The project aims to strengthen the capacity of youth workers by equipping them with practical knowledge and tools to promote healthier eating habits, critical thinking about food-related misinformation, and sustainable lifestyle choices among young people. It responds to key challenges such as increasing obesity rates, the influence of misleading food marketing, lack of awareness about nutrition and well-being, and limited access to structured health education in youth work. By implementing this project, youth workers will develop competencies in food literacy, enabling them to educate young people on making informed dietary choices, analyzing food labels, understanding the impact of processed foods, and recognizing sustainable consumption patterns. The training will also address media literacy, helping youth workers guide young people in identifying misinformation, critically evaluating health claims in advertisements and social media, and making independent, fact-based decisions about their nutrition and well-being. Another core objective is to integrate physical activity and stress management techniques into youth work practices, ensuring that young people not only improve their eating habits but also adopt a more active and balanced lifestyle. The project will introduce methods such as outdoor education, plogging, and mindfulness activities that can be easily replicated in local youth programs. Sustainability is a key focus, as the project aims to create lasting impact by embedding nutrition and well-being education into regular youth work activities. Through hands-on workshops, practical challenges, and interactive methodologies, youth workers will gain the skills needed to engage young people in discussions on health and sustainability in a way that is relevant and accessible. By the end of the project, youth workers will be better prepared to implement workshops, mentoring programs, and awareness campaigns that address nutrition, sustainability, and media literacy in their communities. The project will contribute to the overall quality of youth work by providing structured methodologies, innovative approaches, and collaborative learning experiences that empower both youth workers and the young people they support.
