The Esch Youth Olympiad was the first exchange of its kind, uniting young people from Esch-sur-Alzette and its twin cities through sport, intercultural learning, and non-formal education. It created a unique opportunity for many participants to experience Erasmus+ mobility for the first time, especially those with fewer opportunities, and showed how sport can be a powerful tool to build friendships, inclusion, and European cooperation. The project aimed to: - strengthen cooperation between Esch and its twin cities, - promote intercultural dialogue and healthy lifestyles through inclusive sports, - empower young people to voice ideas for more youth-friendly cities, and develop soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication. The exchange had a strong local impact, engaging the community and positioning Esch as a youth and sports hub. At the same time, it became the starting point of a new tradition of Olympiads, with partner cities now encouraged to host future editions and continue building this network of youth exchanges.
