Objectives

With “Living Characters” YE we want to delve into the cultural heritage of 5 different countries, using their specific alphabets and symbologies as a starting point to create dialogue between the different cultures, find common points and what distinguishes them to awaken curiosity and promote intercultural dialogue. In 2021 Eurobarometer survey on disinformation showed that 83% of Europeans perceive fake news as a threat to democracy, with misinformation often targeting marginalized cultural and linguistic communities. The European Digital Media Observatory also highlights that language is frequently weaponized to spread polarizing narratives, dehumanizing certain groups and escalating cultural conflicts. This project aims to combat this by creating a safe space for people from various cultures to co-exist and express themselves freely, allowing for intercultural dialogue to emerge and for countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, to create connections and establish partnerships too. Through Non-Formal Education (NFE) methods, and Live Action Role Play (LARP) we aim to create a project, where we learn about different alphabets, symbols, cultural heritage, break stereotypes, and foster a sense of belonging. By designing an interactive role-play and learning space (LARP), participants will be able to create new alphabets, symbols and cultures, engaging in an experiential process that mirrors real-world social dynamics. This bottom-up approach will allow us to experience how competition and cooperation emerge, so that we can draw insights that can be applied to real world problems, such as discrimination, exclusion, and social division in our communities. The project aligns with Erasmus+ priorities by promoting inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and innovative NFE methods. The specific objectives of this project are: *Empower 30 young people with knowledge about other cultures, from within Europe and outside, as well about their own. *Enhance young people's self-awareness and understanding regarding their own prejudices and give them tools to overcome them. *Build an inclusive community of young people, who inspire, support and encourage each other, also beyond the project's timeline *Develop young people’s soft skills such as communication, cooperation, leadership, creativity, resilience, cultural awareness and emotional intelligence to increase their confidence and success in their professional and personal lives *Create an infopack with all the content created during the project regarding alphabets and symbologies *Create a toolkit on how to make a LARP activity, supporting young people to bring this method for connection, fun and inclusion in their communities *Design a deck of cards - a game that supports learning about symbols from different cultures, and building deeper connections through questions *Raise awareness and interest in the EU opportunities for young people to increase participation and engagement *Create at least 5 events within local communities of young people, one in each partner country, to disseminate the project’s results.
