This project aims to empower Deaf young women by addressing the gender inequalities they face within Deaf communities and youth organisations. Despite progress in gender equality, Deaf women remain underrepresented in leadership, lack safe spaces to discuss key issues, and face barriers in self-advocacy and decision-making. By strengthening the capacities of Deaf youth workers, the project ensures they can effectively support, mentor, and advocate for Deaf women’s rights. The project’s main objectives are: Enhancing gender-sensitive youth work by equipping youth workers with knowledge, tools, and strategies to address gender inequality. Encouraging leadership and advocacy among Deaf young women by providing them with the confidence and skills to take active roles in their communities. Breaking societal taboos by creating safe spaces where Deaf women can discuss sensitive topics such as gender-based violence, self-confidence, and stereotypes. Strengthening transnational cooperation by establishing a European network of youth workers and Deaf young women who collaborate and exchange best practices. Ensuring sustainable impact by embedding gender-sensitive approaches into Deaf youth organisations and ensuring long-term support structures. The project aligns with the Erasmus+ Inclusion and Diversity Strategy, promoting equal opportunities and participation for marginalised groups, particularly Deaf women.
